METATOMIX SUPPORTS NEW VERSION OF KEY INTEGRATED JUSTICE IT STANDARD

Latest Release of Company’s Judicial Inquiry System Product Enables Justice Organizations to Leverage National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) Standard to Create Single Subject Profiles

Tampa, FL., October 2, 2007 – Court Technology Conference Metatomix, Inc., a leading provider of semantic solutions to financial services, justice, manufacturing and life sciences organizations, today announced a new release of its Judicial Inquiry System (JIS) product, JIS 2.6. JIS 2.6 enables justice organizations to capture criminal and civil history information in real time from local, state and national systems using a simple interface and single query.

JIS 2.6 supports the recently released National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) 2.0 standard, released in July. A partnership of the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security, NIEM was designed to enable jurisdictions to effectively share critical information in emergency situations, as well as support the day-to-day operations of agencies throughout the nation. Specifically, JIS 2.6 features the ability to create and leverage Information Exchange Package Documentation (IEPD). As a specification for data exchange that defines usage of data elements for data sharing, IEPD is the focal point of NIEM interoperability.

“Metatomix products enable our justice customers to leverage the power of semantic technology to form comprehensive, multi-dimensional subject profiles from the many disparate sources in which this information resides,” said Metatomix Director of Product Management Christian Barr. “Today’s announcement exemplifies our commitment to implementing the very latest justice standards so we can provide our customers and partners with the most sophisticated solutions available.”

NIEM enables information sharing, focusing on information exchanged among organizations as part of their current or intended business practices. The NIEM exchange development methodology results in a common semantic understanding among participating organizations and data formatted in a semantically consistent manner. NIEM is intended to standardize content (actual data exchange standards), provide tools and manage processes. Metatomix converted the NIEM data model into a semantic ontology to extend the benefits of the standard to its JIS 2.6 customers.

“One of the many powerful features delivered in Oracle Database 11g is native semantic technology capabilities,” said Willie Hardie, vice president of Database Product Marketing at Oracle. “Metatomix’s semantic middleware platform is a perfect complement to these capabilities. The combination gives customers the full benefit of semantic technology.”
