Framework to Connect Disparate Justice Data Systems, Provide Standards-based Search and Facilitate Information Exchange
Tampa, FL., October 2, 2007 - Court Technology Conference — Metatomix Inc., a leading provider of semantic solutions to financial services, justice, manufacturing and life sciences organizations, today announced the availability of its semantic framework for justice. Leveraging the company's semantic middleware platform, the justice framework is the industry's first environment for building and deploying semantically-enabled justice solutions. The framework encompasses open data standards as defined by federal government agencies for implementing information sharing solutions in courts, law enforcement and corrections domains. The justice framework is the first of four frameworks the company will provide, including financial services, manufacturing and life sciences.
The justice framework features several key capabilities including the ability to deploy searchable IEPD's (Information Exchange Package Documentation) within Metatomix's Judicial Inquiry System (JIS) and Criminal Investigation (CI) products. By adopting this standard approach to information sharing, Metatomix provides partners and customers the ability to enhance and extend the scope of information that the company's justices solutions provide. Additionally, the framework supports the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) 2.0 standards and tools, ensuring that agencies will remain and continue to grow with the standards developed and disseminated by the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security.
Additionally, the framework offers a new set of integrated justice core services that provide a layer of functional separation between the data sources to which the solution connects and the functionality of the system that delivers vital real-time information to the end user. The framework also enables deploying SPARQL (Simple Protocol and RDF Query Language)-enabled queries for the applications, leveraging the common information model of the ontology and the tools to convert these XML standards to ontologies that help deliver semantic functionality.
"The semantic framework for justice underscores our commitment to and experience with the justice industry," said Jeff Dickerson, CEO of Metatomix. "Our justice customers' feedback is reflected in every aspect of the solution announced today. Working with them we have developed this framework to meet the real-world needs of organizations tasked with administering justice across many functions and systems."
The framework also adheres to the following critical justice industry standards:
The semantic framework for justice comes as the company also announced today that both Coweta and Cherokee Counties in Georgia are leveraging Metatomix's Judicial Data Exchange (JDX) product.
